It's been awhile but here's a short summary
- We took a month to prep for Anime Expo
- Made some cool exclusives
- Got through all that
- Slowing down to keep focusing on cut & sew
Surprise surprise! I'm still working on more cut & sew. Im beginning to see it's a real test to see if I can grow as a designer. I'm also finding out graphic design is hard and really good graphic designers deserve more credit. I guess this really goes for good designers in general. Good design just wows you or makes things so simple to use. Either way, it makes you love it. In an odd way, the search for that is what makes me love it. a. very. painful. love.
" What's your next convention? "
Yeah I only wanted to do one convention this year and it was Anime Expo. I'm not gonna front, it makes the MOST money. Why? Theres so many fucking people. okay before i keep going, i gotta give the tea but i want to say there is NO HATE towards AX, I know they're just doing their job. Ive been going to AX for 8 years now? So months back i was signing up for number 9, this recent july. As we all know, i have some extreme designs out. Not everything is that bad but it gets wild. Because of that we've been told to put some designs away, censor, or just take down ( not sell ). So when I was ready to sign up, they gave me a small selection booth locations i could choose from. it was the 18+ section. Downstairs. in the back. lol far away. I laugh about it now but i was scared shitless hoping people would come visit us.
After some VERY business logical thinking we actually saw this as great opportunity for us and it ended up being a fun time. other than the part where i had the stomach flu all weekend it was super cool! Surprisingly not hot either. Either way, i really hope to be down there again next year. I hope i can make a better booth than last time. Doubt it but we'll see.
Anyways !
It's just past my 9 year anniversary and for my 10th I need to do something big right? Well I want to write a book, just telling all kinds of stories, business tips & tricks, things i've talked about to other people in the field, things i've noticed but never shared, just... as much as I can lol.
So wish me luck :)
Jane
YO GOOD LUCK ON THE BOOK
